The Barbara Smith Fund

The Barbara Smith Fund is a private foundation dedicated to perpetuating the life purpose of Barbara Smith Coleman: to contribute to health, healing, and the healing arts.

Barbara Smith Coleman was a recognized and accomplished sculptor and painter, as well as an authentic healer who understood the human condition. Barbara dedicated the last decade of her life to creating the Smith Farm Center for Healing and the Arts in Washington, D.C.  The Center provides healing programs for people with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Barbara chose the name "Smith Farm" in honor of her father's farm, and subsequently added "Center for Healing and the Arts" reflecting her deep passion for the role of art in healing.  Barbara established the Barbara Smith Fund shortly before her death in 2002 to support the Smith Farm Center and related work.

We do not accept unsolicted proposals.

The Fund is managed by the Jenifer Altman Foundation.
